Projection mapping the Oval Room at the Copley Fairmont Plaza for Flexitallic

Hotels & Conference Centers

IMMERSIVE GUEST EXPERIENCES

Aether builds projection-mapped lobbies, interactive hallways, ballroom experiences, and conference-center activations for hotels and event venues - turning underused square footage into the most-photographed feature on the property.

Hotels and conference centers have the square footage. We turn it into the experience.

Lobbies, hallways, ballroom pre-functions, elevator banks, conference halls, breakout rooms - these are the highest-traffic, lowest-design-investment areas in most properties. They are also where guests and attendees form their impression of your brand. Projection mapping and interactive media installations turn that overlooked square footage into your single most-photographed asset.

Aether handles the entire program end to end: architectural site survey, content design, fabrication of any custom physical elements, sensor and computer-vision integration, projector calibration, and ongoing content refresh. We have delivered work for the American Visionary Art Museum, the Baltimore Museum of Industry (SEGD Merit Award), Ferrari, NASA, Red Bull, and major festivals - all the same toolkit that lights up your property.

Projection-Mapped Lobbies

Architectural mapping that turns the lobby ceiling, columns, or feature wall into a slowly evolving canvas - calm during check-in, dramatic during evening hours.

Interactive Hallways

Camera and sensor-driven content that responds to guests as they walk between rooms, elevators, or amenity floors. Subtle by default, surprising on engagement.

Signature Brand Moments

A single high-impact installation - a dome, a kinetic sculpture with mapped projection, an immersive bar - that becomes the property's social-media calling card.

Event-Ready Ballrooms

Permanent projection rigging plus our content team on retainer so your ballroom can be reskinned for any conference, gala, or wedding without truss-rigging chaos.

Suite & Penthouse Personalization

Guest-customizable ambient projection in suites - sunrise scenes, calm nature loops, or branded welcome content - controlled from a tablet or guest app.

Conference Center Activations

Projection-mapped keynote stages, branded breakout rooms, and immersive pre-function lobbies for conferences and corporate meetings - reskinned per event with minimal turnaround.

Pop-Up Activations

Portable projection domes for rooftop programs, brand-launch dinners, and seasonal pop-ups - full-service install in a day.

A single team that owns concept, content, fabrication, install, and service.

Most hotel-art programs split between three or four vendors - designer, fabricator, AV integrator, content house - and the seams show. We run all five disciplines in-house, so the system you sign off on is the system that ships, the content cadence is built into the install plan from day one, and there is one team to call when something needs to change. That is how we keep installations alive instead of letting them go dark a year after launch.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does a hotel projection-mapping installation typically cost?
Permanent installations range from $50k for a single-surface lobby moment to $1.5M+ for full-property integration with multiple zones, custom content libraries, and ongoing content refresh. Activations and pop-up installs start around $25k for a weekend program. We scope every project around your specific architecture, budget, and operating model.
How disruptive is installation to operating hotel days?
We design install schedules around your occupancy. Most lobby and hallway work happens overnight in 5–10 hour windows so guest-facing spaces are ready by morning. Larger architectural mapping or rigging that touches structure is typically scheduled around shoulder-season or planned soft-close periods.
Who maintains the system after install?
We offer three tiers: turnkey hand-off with documentation and remote support, a quarterly service contract with content refresh and equipment health checks, and a fully managed model where we own uptime and rotate fresh content monthly. Most luxury properties choose the managed model - projection systems live or die by content cadence.
Can the content be updated for seasons, holidays, or brand campaigns?
Yes - that is half the value. Every install is built on our show-control software so content libraries can be rotated in minutes. We can also build templated tools so your in-house marketing team can swap brand-campaign overlays without calling us.
Is this just for new builds or can it retrofit existing properties?
Both. Retrofits are a strong fit because we work around existing architecture rather than asking you to demo it. Many of our most successful installations have been in 15+ year-old buildings where the projection turns a tired surface into the most-photographed feature.
How does this affect my insurance, fire code, or ADA compliance?
We carry $1M per-occurrence / $2M aggregate general liability and provide certificates of insurance per project. All installations are designed to existing fire-suppression and egress codes - projection equipment is mounted to clear sprinkler patterns and never blocks egress signage. Interactive elements meet WCAG accessibility standards as a default.
Do you only serve specific brands?
No - we work across the luxury and lifestyle hotel spectrum, from independents to brand-managed properties. We have referenceable installs across museums, festivals, and brand-direct activations including Ferrari and Red Bull, and we scale the design language to your specific brand standards.
Can we test a small install before committing to a property-wide program?
Strongly recommended. We frequently start with a single high-traffic surface - a check-in feature wall, an elevator-bank video moment, or a portable dome activation - so your team can read guest response, gather social-media data, and decide on phase-two scope from real evidence rather than renderings.

Curious what your lobby could become?
